I set my course for travelling the on line universe on March 1,2018 and thus far have found it a rather mixed ride. Before this date I limited myself to email correspondence with family, using the web for occasional retail transactions and viewing YouTube as an aide to learning Microsoft office software. My chief source of information was network television. My journey started with signing on for the basic WordPress service and opening a Twitter account. Hitching a ride on these two vehicles I have journeyed through worlds of negativity to search for seeds of hope that are being breathed into this online universe. I have seen a glimmer of this hope, and the seeds taking root, in a number of the WordPress blogs. Twitter not so much.
Why is there so much bitterness and resentment on line. Most articles dwell on the negative, very few on trying to be creative. It seems that people find it easier to say what they are against rather than what they are for, I read a rather lengthy article on Mother Teresa, otherwise known as St.Teresa of Calcutta, which made her seem like the devil incarnate. And all because she didn’t have the appropriate medicines available to combat the pain of the people she took off the streets, who were dying, alone and neglected by all accept her and her Sisters of Charity. The article seemed to indicate that she glorified in their suffering. We are definitely the aspirin generation.
I have just finished reading a book ” 12 rules for life, an antidote to chaos” by Dr. Jordan Peterson. One of the suggestions in his book is that we should take at least one room in the house and make it the best we can. This is a suggestion of his to getting your own house in order before you pull someone else’s house down…… or as the bible says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. So online universe, and Twitter users, clean up your act, put your house in order and ” accentuate the positive rather than the negative” ( a song from Baloo the bear).
