Smirnoff the 26th, rightful king of the Eastern Lands, gazed down from the battlements on the enemy forces swirling below.
After 200 years of war, Igor the Usurper, had finally ceded for peace and reflecting deeply on this King Smirnoff allowed a smile to momentarily grace his countenance.
Above the battlements, perched in the watch tower, Ivan The Unworthy fondled the thirty pieces of gold in his pocket as he studied the best angle to position himself for his act of treachery.
Ivan the Unworthy raised his crossbow, aimed and sent the bolt hurtling towards its target with deadly accuracy.
King Smirnoff the 26th, still smiling at the thought of peace, toppled gracefully over the battlements, his body smashing on the court yard below.
Smirnoff the 27th, rightful king of the Eastern Lands , gazed down from the battlements vowing eternal vengeance on Igor the Treacherous and his evil horde.
So sad! Smirnoff didn’t know at that moment he would not live to see peace in his kingdom. Treachery, betrayal, murder – fairy tales or real life, seems there are those willing to do anything for power and money.
But on a lighter note…a very engaging Six 🙂

Thanks Denise. But he died happy thinking that a 200 year old feud was finally over. The human race will never learn.

Thanks for your comments, Pat. With such treachery, it seems like that war is due to go on for another 200 years

Very well told!. As long as human nature is human nature, things won’t change.

You have that right. Sometimes I like to dream it can, but it’s only a dream.
