The Sculptor

Responding to Denise’s word prompt Thumb. https://girlieontheedge1.wordpress.com/2020/06/21/sundays-six-sentence-story-word-prompt-113/

I graduated in the Spring of 2075, after six long years of study costing $1.2 million, with a degree in bio engineering specializing in body sculpture.

My curriculum included the changes in medical science through the ages, from Barnard’s first heart transplant to limb replacement with inanimate prosthetic limbs and then smart devices.

Medical science designed only for the preservation of the body as a functioning unit completely changed at the beginning of the 21st century with the steps taken in transforming the sexual identities of individuals.

The mid 21st century was all about the animal craze with rich Hollywood celebrities foregoing plastic surgery to transform their features with tails, feathered faces, fish fin ears and elephants trunk noses.

After graduation, my first client consulted with me on his wish to become an angel, which took weeks of perusing thousands of bird photos to arrive at the perfect pair of angel wings, for the low,low price of $5 million.

Life is good, and so busy, I’m thinking of grafting an extra pair of hands onto my arms, each hand containing just one finger and a thumb.

  1. Yikes! The future looks a little freaky. At least I know I won’t be around to see it.
What an ingenious take with your SSS.

      1. interesting inference (in your reply)…perhaps decadence (as manifested in a culture or society) has a broader constituency than merely monetary wealth… (I’m thinking, political parties and organized religion as additional manifestations of the phenom)
